Can Goku pick up Thor’s hammer?
A ‘ultimate legendary galactic weapon only the worthy can wield’ has appeared in Dragon Ball before, there was a story arc centered around Gohan being the one to finally pull the sword from the earth and wield it while the guardians of the sword were never able to wield it.
The judgmental aspect of ‘worthiness’ in Marvel’s Mjolnir really doesn’t fit in the Dragon Ball setting though. Goku exists in a setting where the strongest people are the strongest because of the personal effort they’ve put into training, masters they’ve learned under, and challenges they’ve overcome. Characters who are ‘granted’ power are often minor antagonists, or they use it as a crutch and stop growing in personal strength. Then they’re in a lot of trouble when their magic weapon isn’t available.
…which gets me thinking, Mjolnir would still be useful in the setting because of the statement “only the worthy can wield it”. If Vegeta tried to lift it but couldn’t, it would piss him off enough to train even harder to lift it. In that case it’s about becoming personally more powerful than the magic in Mjolnir, so when Vegeta is able to finally lift the thing it’s because he’s surpassed it in personal power.
Then it breaks in a comedic training mishap with Goku.
…and then perhaps the ‘spirit of Mjolnir’ pops out, thanks the Saiyans for finally being worthy, and then gives them a new training regime for them to rigorously practice and improve themselves further.
