This is a theory that I have worked very hard on. So please, enjoy it to its full extent.
In the DBZ movie “The History of Trunks”, Future Gohan claims to have trained for 13 years. Yet, he still isn’t enough to defeat a pair of androids. If our Gohan trained that much, he’d be unstoppable. So, why is Future Gohan weak?
Here’s the thing, Future Gohan isn’t weak, he’s normal. Our Gohan is much stronger than he should be.
When Trunks was traveling back and forth in time, he claimed that the Butterfly Effect was taking place. Things that weren’t supposed to occur, occurred because of the small changes that Trunks has caused. Some examples of the Butterfly Effect: Gero becoming an Android, the existence of Android 16 and 19, and the increased power of Androids 17 & 18.
And I believe that one of those changes, affected Gohan’s strength. He should’ve been the same as he was in the future, but he suddenly became much more gifted when it came to fighting. It just didn’t make any sense.
For those who don’t know what the “Butterfly Effect” is:
“In chaos theory, the Butterfly Effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state.”
Some people may argue that Gohan did have sudden bursts of power before Trunks came, which signifies that he was always strong, and gifted. Like when he fought Freeza, or when he attacked Raditz. But those aren’t anything special. It happens with other characters too.
After Vegeta got stabbed by Black:
After Bulma got slapped by Beerus:
This doesn’t signify Gohan’s potential. A lot of characters get this huge, and sudden boost of power when enraged, and Gohan was just simply one of those characters.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading it, as much as I did making it. Until next time.
