There’s a new Sword Art Online movie coming, and it will get a simultaneous worldwide release on February 18, 2017.

According to Anime News Network, Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale will screen in about 1,000 theaters around the world on its release. Watch the trailer below:

The film is set after the events of the anime’s second season, in which Kirito, Asuna and their friends start playing a new game known as OS (short for “Ordinal Scale”) that, contrary to the previous ones they played, doesn’t have a full-dive function and is based on a new augmented reality device instead called “Augma”. The protagonist, Kirito isn’t a fan of the new tech as it forces him to use his physical body, which isn’t as dominant as his virtual body.

I was never a big fan of the Sword Art Online franchise, but I’m really digging the epic music and fluid animation in the trailer. Are you excited to watch this movie? Post your thoughts in the comments below.
